Q. Tell us about your journey. How did you start Belle Perle and what led you to create your brand?
A. The idea for Belle Perle truly began out of necessity. Before COVID, I was searching for a lace bustier that was light, refined, and wearable beyond the bedroom, something I could style effortlessly into a look. Everywhere I looked, I only found pieces designed strictly as lingerie. That’s when I realized there was a gap in the market and an opportunity to create something different. A few years later, Belle Perle was born.
Q. What inspires your designs and the vision behind Belle Perle?
A. My inspiration is twofold. As a lover of classical art, I am deeply inspired by 17th-century silhouettes and romanticism. I pair that influence with my admiration for the modern woman — confident, dynamic, and expressive. Belle Perle designs celebrate femininity, quality, and versatility for women who move seamlessly through different moments of their lives.
Q. Your bustiers are beautifully crafted. Can you tell us about the craftsmanship behind them and where they are made?
A. Thank you. I truly appreciate that. Quality is the foundation of Belle Perle. For our bustiers, we carefully source exceptional lace from France and satin from Italy. Each piece is crafted in Italy, just outside of Milan, by skilled artisans who share our commitment to precision and excellence.
Q. What has been the most meaningful moment for you since launching Belle Perle?
A. There have been many meaningful moments. Holding a finished bustier that began as a simple idea was incredibly powerful. Building a talented team that supports the vision of the brand has also been deeply rewarding. But what means the most is seeing people connect with the work, especially during trade shows, when customers truly understand and appreciate the craftsmanship behind each piece. Those moments make every challenge worthwhile.
Q. What advice would you give to someone who dreams of starting their own business today?
A. I would say go for it. It may sound simple, but if you truly believe in your idea or your talent, don’t hesitate. Building a business teaches you not only about entrepreneurship but also about yourself. The growth, both personal and professional, is invaluable.
